Sucked In & Off Track:
A Call Back to What Matters
Time here is short—though sometimes it feels painfully long. How are you spending your moments? Your days? Your weeks?
What is your mind set on?
What drives you?
Where is your focus?
Yes, we have to work. Yes, there are chores, tasks, and responsibilities. But take a breath. Stop life’s scroll!
Really ask yourself—what's preoccupying your time?
Is it moving you closer to the vision you have for your life?
My vision?
I want to know God!! He’s the best. He’s everything. And I want to spend time with Him. My crazy brain forgets that sometimes. Staying aligned is a real struggle. But with all my heart…I want to walk with Him. He’s so much greater than anything. I want to be changed. I want to pour out over my family and the people in my life. And one day, in the end, to kneel before the King, Jesus, thanking Him desperately for His grace that saw me through.
But here’s the thing—the new thing for me…
This whole business side of social media.
It can become a rabbit hole that slowly sucks the life out of you. Don’t let it.
I've seen what it does.
We weren’t made to live in constant strategy mode! BLEHK!! —driven by likes, views, and another post to schedule.
Step back.
Enjoy the life unfolding right in front of you.
Don’t miss it.
I’m learning—again—that I want to live a life focused on what truly matters:
My husband.
My kids.
My God.
Genuine connection.
Real people.
Simple joys.
This past week, I felt that magnetizing pull toward the business grind of social media.
And I had to actively set it aside.
So here are my ground rules:
Don’t wake up with the phone. Wake up talking to God.
Hug my kids. Make breakfast.
Sip my coffee slowly.
Write. Study Scripture. Journal with my daughter.
Map out the day. Set 3 hours to work—and when the time’s up, I’m done.
Pour back into what gives me life: family, nature, music, sunshine…
And yes, keep the house in order so we can enjoy the blessings we’ve been given.
Stop. Smell the roses. Recheck your alignment.
Stephen Covey once said that planes are off course 90% of the time. Turbulence, wind, and weather throw them off. But the pilot receives feedback and makes adjustments—getting back on track.
That’s me.
My course correction comes from the Lord.
Thank you, Holy Spirit, for realigning me.
I go off course often—and You bring me back.
This is my rhythm right now:
Daily walks to the river.
Catching little fish in a net, only to let them go again.
It reminds me to slow down.
To rest my soul.
To wait patiently on the Lord.
And to notice—He’s always near.
Feeling off course too?
